Newspapers arrange with Facebook and Google

The News Media Alliance in the United States wants to bargain their rights against Google and Facebook in terms of advertising and quality journalism.

Facebook and Google now dominates the world in terms of online advertising and spreading news. People now rely on these sites because they can access it for free rather than buying a newspaper to read the same news. This causes the newspaper industries to lose readers and advertising revenue.

Newspaper dealers are now fighting their rights in bringing quality journalism. News organization groups will try to negotiate and ask for a “limited antitrust” from the Congress. Getting a congressional antitrust will not be easy, but David Chavern, the alliance’s Chief Executive said that it is better to try than to do nothing. They want the government to help them protect the journalism business.

The group wants journalism business to have more power against these web platforms. They also want to help to stop the spreading of fake news and hoaxes that are now infecting Facebook, Google and even other websites.

If ever News Media Alliance succeeds in the negotiations, will this be the start of a new worldwide journalism campaign?
