Nokia 3310, The Rebirth of an Icon
Comeback is real, as once said by several people (specifically, sports fans) around the world. We have seen the likes of Michael Jordan, the late Muhammad Ali, Bill Clinton, Robert Downey Jr., and even Justin Timberlake earning successes in the second wind during their respective career runs. And in the world wherein modernization and technology always prompt us to move forward, it seems you’ll be left far behind if you go the other way.
But in the world where smartphones have been changing the overall trending landscape of technology, something just piloted a comeback similar to reviving those 90s thingamajigs in the world of pop culture, as Nokia stages the comeback of the most reliable phone to hit the market ever.
And the phone model Nokia 3310 is not resurrected as if we’re back at the year 2000 wherein the monochromatic screen, 133-gram phone has been dominating the world; selling 126 million units worldwide. Though this time around, the phone model will include more features than just having calculator, reminder, and stopwatch.
HMD Global, the Finnish manufacturing company which uses the rights for the marketing the Nokia brand, has formally unveiled the phone during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The news generated buzz and shock waves all over the world.
The rejuvenated phone model may have featured less-than-advanced features, but remains slicker than its original predecessor with an enlarged 2.4-inch 320×240-colored screen, glossy cover, different main buttons, a 2-megapixel camera with LED flash, 16 MB internal memory, the mobile game Snake, and not to mention its much longer battery life, making 3310 the most durable phone to date.
However, not all could have the best mobile experience for Nokia 3310 as it only offers 2.5G connection – slower than the usual 3G and 4G network coverage. Add the fact that its specs were basically subpar compared to other phone models. But in spite of the flaws though, the hype remains steadfast. They made people keep talking about Nokia 3310, and seemingly can’t wait to get their own unit.
The modernized version Nokia 3310 will be available by some time second quarter of the year. It will have an estimated price of 49 euros.
